August 6th - 8th Pastor & Mrs. Odom took the teens & young adults
to Gulf Coast Baptist Church's annual Youth Conference.

Wednesday night, July 8th, the Harris Family, Missionaries to Peru,
presented their ministry to our church, sang, and Bro. Jon preached for us.

A large number of backpacks and school supplies were
donated to our church. Sunday, July 5th, we distributed one backpack
full of school supplies to every K5 to 6th grade student in attendance.

Our 4th of July picnic was a lot of fun. We had sno-cones,
cotton candy, and an 18' inflatable slide for the kids
(and kids at heart) to enjoy. After the cookout, a brief
devotional, and some games for the adults, the kids
had an indoor snowball fight -- in July!

The theme for Vacation Bible School for 2009 was "Let Freedom Ring!"
We had over 50 every night (July 1st - 3rd) and 14 were saved
as a result of VBS -- we're looking forward to next year!

Pastor Odom preached at Victory Baptist Church in Homestead, FL
for their special speakers' series on Thursday, June 25th. It was a
blessing to meet other believers in south Florida and see how well
that work is progressing.

For Fathers' Day, our annual Mens' & Boys' activity was
a Marlins / Yankees baseball game on Friday, June 19th.

The Ladies' Fellowship was June 16th: "Sowing Seeds of Kindness"

Pastor Odom preached at Ocean View Baptist Church in
West Palm Beach on Thursday, June 11th while their Pastor was
out of town. Quite a few of our members went up for the service.

Our teens attended the Youth Conference at Westgate Baptist Church in Tampa, FL, the weekend of April 10th and 11th.

Sunday, March 29th, was Pastor & Mrs. Odom's
first anniversary.
Dr. Russell Anderson preached for our special services.

*We held our regularly
scheduled Wednesday night service on New Year's Eve.
Immediately after the service everyone came together for a pot-luck
fellowship dinner, followed by games and then a presentation of
Sherwood Baptist Church's second release, "Facing the
Giants." When the DVD ended, we prayed in the New Year.
*We praised the Lord that one
young man, Sergio (a visitor), was saved on the way to the service and made a public
profession of salvation during the invitation!

*The Pastor was out of town on
Christmas Eve. Brother Dave Williamson, a
BIMI Missionary to the
Military, preached for our special Candlelight Service. |

*We held our Christmas
program, Christ Has Come for All, on
Sunday evening, December 21st, at six pm.
The short, half hour music presentation by our ensemble and children's choir was
followed by a Christmas message from Pastor Odom.
*Turnout was tremendous; we
had to put out a few dozen extra chairs. Final count for attendance was one
hundred twenty-nine (including two nursery workers
and the eight children entrusted to their care).

|

*March 30, 2008, Brother
Tom Odom was called by the church to become our new Pastor.
*He had been assisting
Dr. Proctor for several months by filling our pulpit. He has
continued to hold to the same fundamentals of the faith that were taught here for
the last 30+ years by Dr. Proctor.
|

*March 2, 2008, our former
Pastor, Dr. Michie Proctor, Ph.D., was called home after a nine year
struggle with cancer.
It was his desire that the church faithfully serve the Lord, reach our local
community for Christ, and continue to advance world-wide evangelism in the years to
come.
*In lieu of flowers, or as a memorial,
donations to the church can be made at any time in his name.
